Giclee on Hahnemüle German Etching, 310gsm
7×7”
Edition of 1001 (+10 AP)
An Ode To Mr.G & The OG’s
This short shot at being a pirate, it’s a homage to how I was raised. Covered in colour and rich with “la collection de disques de mon père” I was lucky to know how it feels on many levels to enjoy. Mini-Me was a certified G. Adulthood, dependent on who’s judging, perhaps hasn’t been straightforward at times, but that’s my homework not yours, and that it’s still affordable to be interested, genuinely keeps me happy. To be able to learn anything is worth something like gold, isn’t it?
Flashing back to being a pip, the first moment Uncle Drew helped me open a Jean-Michel Basquiat picture book… I wanted to paint like him. Fast forwards, no, of course I don’t own one of his masterstrokes, however, fully grown G has recently discovered ‘Life Doesn’t Frighten Me’ by Maya Angelou and illustrated by JMB. I cherish it. Art is for all ages.
What’s my point? Mastery is everywhere, and many of us blaze by it, daily. Sean Greenhalgh was making history just around the corner from where I stumbled to school, and ‘A Forger’s Tale’ is waiting next in line on my table. Ben Okri describes it as “a roundabout love letter to art”. I’m commandeering the sentiment for my own miniature memorials, forged many years ago from my family’s garden shed, a space long before Wi-Fi.
* lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen. Let’s just enjoy: welcome@oneman.land
APOLOGIES: this bumf of mine will repeat several more times.
